Zusammenfassung

Microtonality can easily be found within the harmonic series. For Hayden Chisholm the 11th harmonic is a very special tone: "the primordial bluenote".

This short instructional video shows you how you can find that note, how it sounds and how to play it on the saxophone. If you look carefully you can also see the fingering he uses to play this note on the saxophone.

German subtitles are provided as an extra material.

Practicing Microtonality on the Saxophone: "The microtonal fingering chart"
Everyone, who studied the saxophone for a while knows the fingerings of all the chromatic notes on the saxophone. As soon as you try to embark into the world of microtones it is a huge task to find fingerings to play all these new pitches. Fortunatly Philipp Gerschlauer, who has been pushing boundries in the field of microtonality on the saxophone, wrote his book of fingerings, which contains 650 fingerings on the alto saxophone. In this short instructional video Philipp teaches how to read/understand and how to use the microtonal fingering chart. In course of this short lesson he also shows some of the very small pitches you can play on the saxophone. If you want to work more with his book, contact Philipp Gerschlauer via gerschlauermusic.com
